The Lester S. Levy Collection of Sheet Music consists of 33,000 sheets of American music and provides a unique window on the social life of America. The collection spans the years 1780 to 1960, but its strength is its thorough documentation of 19th c. America through popular music. The music is arranged by 38 topics, and access is supplemented with a catalog indexing each song, title, composer, author, publisher, lithographer, and first line.
